WiiM Ultra vs WiiM Pro Plus: Which Streamer Fits Your System?
Compare WiiM Ultra and WiiM Pro Plus by AirPlay 2, HDMI ARC, phono, headphone output, subwoofer management and system role.
Evidence label: Comparative Analysis — specification-based, not a simultaneous hands-on or measured test. Official WiiM product and support information was checked on 1 September 2026. Firmware, services and regional features can change.
WiiM Ultra and WiiM Pro Plus share the same broad purpose: add modern network audio to an existing stereo system. Their real difference is not a simple “newer is better” ladder. Pro Plus is the compact conventional streamer for systems that already have source switching and volume control. Ultra is a control hub for TV, vinyl, headphones and a managed subwoofer—but it does not receive AirPlay 2.
Short answer
- Choose WiiM Pro Plus if AirPlay 2 reception is required, you want a small line-level streamer, and your amplifier or receiver already handles TV, headphones and subwoofer integration.
- Choose WiiM Ultra if HDMI ARC, phono input, a headphone output, touchscreen control and managed subwoofer output can replace several separate boxes.

AirPlay is the first gate
WiiM’s current AirPlay support list identifies Pro Plus as an AirPlay 2 receiver and excludes Ultra. That makes the decision immediate for an Apple-first household that needs native AirPlay reception: Pro Plus fits; Ultra does not. Ultra can still serve other ecosystems and inputs, but a buyer should not infer AirPlay reception from the WiiM brand name.
Ultra earns its size through system integration
Ultra is designed to sit at the centre of a two-channel or 2.1 system. HDMI ARC brings television audio into the same control path. The phono input accepts a turntable source, the headphone output avoids a separate headphone device for basic use, and the dedicated subwoofer path supports crossover and level management. The touchscreen also gives the system a local control surface.
Those functions matter when they replace equipment you would otherwise buy. They add much less value when an existing integrated amplifier or AV receiver already supplies HDMI, phono, headphones and bass management.
Pro Plus is the cleaner line-source choice
Pro Plus is easier to treat as a conventional source. Connect its analogue output to an amplifier, or use optical/coaxial output into a downstream DAC. It retains AirPlay 2 reception and avoids paying for the Ultra’s screen and expanded source-management hardware.
Pro Plus does not power passive speakers. It also does not provide HDMI ARC, a phono stage, a headphone socket or a dedicated subwoofer output. Those are system-design limits, not defects.
Which should you buy?
Choose WiiM Ultra if:
- Your stereo must receive TV audio through HDMI ARC.
- You want one box for streaming, vinyl, headphones and a subwoofer.
- Google Cast or other supported services meet your streaming requirements.
- Local touchscreen control is useful.
Choose WiiM Pro Plus if:
- AirPlay 2 reception is mandatory.
- Your amplifier already handles sources, volume and headphones.
- You want a compact analogue or digital source.
- You do not need HDMI ARC or managed subwoofer output in the streamer.
What this comparison does not claim
SoundPath Lab has not used QA403 data or a controlled level-matched comparison for this article. Published DAC specifications do not establish an audible ranking by themselves. Analogue output, noise, distortion, resampling and headphone performance will be added only after independent measurement and documented test conditions.
