Recorded functional observations

  • Restart memory: Input and volume retained; playback not resumed; no reported silence/offline/wrong input
  • Wake: Combined Spotify/TIDAL/Cast field reports success at 2.61s; not three separately timed services. App/knob fields show 0s without explicit success selection. HDMI field shows 2.12s beside ambiguous not-tested/result wording
  • DLNA: Duration field 30, unit not explicit; zero reported interruptions, track-change failures or discovery failures; lock-screen playback continued
  • DLNA phone reconnect: Ultra continued while phone also produced audio, approximately 3s apart; playback paused after current track; phone could push playback again. Observation awaiting reproduction
  • Temperature: By touch: bottom slightly warm at 30min/1h, warm at 2h; no thermometry
  • Google Cast: Discovery successful; first playback 1.26s; 30min uninterrupted; 20 track changes without reported pop/pause/silence; resumed after 10min pause; lock screen continued
  • Multiroom with WiiM Amp: Group created in 1.69s; subjectively synchronized; 30min without group drop; volume synchronized; no track-change pops; normal after ungrouping
  • Wireless Sub Pro: RoomFit/EQ off; worked with Cast and Spotify/TIDAL and after HDMI/optical/line input changes; auto-reconnected after standby; no reported missing bass, obvious delay or tail. Source-chain details pending
  • TIDAL Connect: One playback interruption in 60 minutes: phone played while Ultra was silent; switching to the next track restored playback. Site owner confirmed one interruption and corrected the conflicting zero-count entry on 2026-10-07. Normal/high-resolution switch under 1s; pause/resume normal; 20 track changes without reported pops/pauses.

What Does It Replace?

What We Tested

Rojas tested WiiM Ultra on 2026-10-03 using firmware 5.2.829661, WiiM Home 3.6.10.092711 and TP-LINK TL-WDR5620 on 2.4GHz Wi-Fi. Cold starts: 42.21, 44.74 and 40.38 seconds (mean 42.44). Google Cast: 30 minutes and 20 track changes without reported interruptions, pops or silence. Ultra/WiiM Amp multiroom: 30 minutes without group drop; synchronization assessed by ear. Wireless Sub Pro operation and standby reconnection were reported with RoomFit/EQ off. TIDAL Connect had one interruption in 60 minutes: Ultra was silent while the phone played, and the next track restored playback. DLNA phone-reconnection behavior is retained in the session record.

What We Have Not Tested

No analogue noise/distortion/frequency-response measurements, loaded headphone measurements, RoomFit accuracy test, 5GHz/Ethernet validation or complete USB/phono/digital-output verification is supplied by this report. Long-term reliability and other firmware versions remain unverified. App/knob wake timing and HDMI wake wording need clarification; listed equipment does not establish a tested chain.

The dated functional session supports L3 for the documented firmware, App and connections. Google Cast and basic multiroom worked in the recorded runs; TIDAL had one interruption and DLNA phone reconnection produced dual-device playback. Causes, repeatability and other firmware versions remain unverified. Keep a working existing streamer unless the extra connections solve a specific need.
