Google Nest Mini and Nest Audio Are Discontinued, but Support Continues
Google has ended production of Nest Mini and Nest Audio but says existing devices will keep receiving updates, security patches and customer care.
Google ended production of the Nest Mini and Nest Audio in June 2026, but the company says existing devices will continue to receive software updates, security patches, and customer care. The important distinction for owners and used buyers is that this is a hardware lifecycle change—not a service shutdown, recall, or statement that existing speakers have stopped working.

What Google confirmed
A Google spokesperson told Tech Advisor that production of the Nest Mini and Nest Audio had ended. Google also said existing units would continue to receive software updates, security patches, and customer care.
That continuing-support commitment matters, but Google did not publish an end date or a minimum support period. SoundPath Lab therefore records the support end date as Unknown and treats the commitment as a manufacturer statement rather than independently verified long-term support.
This record applies only to the Google Nest Mini and Google Nest Audio. It does not automatically extend to the Google Home Mini, Nest Hub, Nest Hub Max, or other Google Home products.
What this does—and does not—mean
Discontinuation means Google is no longer producing these two speaker models. It does not, by itself, mean a functioning Nest Mini or Nest Audio must be replaced. Google has not announced that their core services are being switched off, and this lifecycle update is not evidence that existing speakers are unusable.
The practical uncertainty is duration. Because Google has not stated how long updates, security patches, or customer care will continue, owners cannot use the announcement to calculate a firm remaining support life.
What owners should do
Owners of working units can continue using them, while keeping the Google Home app and speaker software current. It is sensible to periodically verify account access, Wi-Fi connection, casting, speaker groups, voice ser

There is no reason in this announcement alone to replace a functioning unit immediately. The decision should instead depend on current compatibility, feature availability, and the buyer's tolerance for an unspecified support horizon.
What used buyers should verify
Treat both products as discontinued hardware. Before the seller's return window closes, check:
- Google account setup and factory-reset status
- Wi-Fi onboarding and current Google Home app compatibility
- Casting and speaker-group behavior
- Voice-service availability in the intended region
- Microphones, touch controls, power supply, and audio output
- Whether the seller is presenting old stock as current production
A low used price can still be reasonable, but it should reflect the unknown support end date and the absence of a published minimum support term.
Current replacement
Google now sells the Google Home Speaker with Gemini through its official store. Buyers wanting currently produced Google hardware should compare against that model rather than assuming remaining Nest Mini or Nest Audio listings represent current production.
SoundPath Lab has not verified that every Nest feature, subscription, or regional capability is identical on the replacement.
Sources and verification

Verification note: Production status and continued-support language are based on Google's statement. The duration of that support remains unverified because no end date has been announced.
Revision history
- September 9, 2026: Initial publication. Recorded both products as discontinued with continuing support; support end date remains Unknown.
