Cambridge Audio Yoyo (M) Battery Safety Recall: Stop Using All Units

Cambridge Audio has issued a voluntary safety recall for every Yoyo (M) portable Bluetooth speaker after receiving reports of batteries overheating during charging, including fire and smoke. Owners should stop using and charging the product immediately.

Immediate action: Switch the speakers off, disconnect the power supply, do not charge them, keep them away from combustible materials, and register with Cambridge Audio for regional instructions. Do not open the speaker, remove the battery, place it in household waste, or send it by ordinary post or courier.

Cambridge Audio's recall FAQ and Health Canada say every Yoyo (M) is included and there is no serial-number, purchase-date or batch-number exemption. The UK safety notice identifies UK sales between 2016 and 2023; Health Canada records Canadian sales from 2016 to 2022. Do not generalize this recall to the Yoyo (S), Yoyo (L), or other Cambridge Audio products.

What the official sources confirm

Cambridge Audio says it received reports of Yoyo (M) batteries overheating during charging and producing fire and/or smoke. U.S. CPSC recall 26-731 reports four incidents involving fire, smoke or ejected battery material, with no injuries reported as of the September 3, 2026 announcement.

The U.S. notice covers approximately 714 boxed pairs and offers a $218 cash refund per pair. These figures apply to the CPSC notice and must not be extrapolated globally.

Canada — Health Canada recall RA-82647

Health Canada published recall RA-82647 on September 22, 2026. Cambridge Audio reported 309 affected units sold in Canada from 2016 through 2022. The notice says every Yoyo (M) unit is affected, wherever and whenever bought, and that there is no batch-number exemption. The same Light Grey C10930, Dark Grey C10931 and Blue C10965 references apply.

As of September 14, 2026, Cambridge Audio had reported no incidents or injuries in Canada. That Canadian count is regional and does not replace the four U.S. incidents recorded by the CPSC. It is not evidence that continued use is safe.

Canadian owners should stop using the speakers, switch them off, unplug them, not charge them, and store them somewhere cool and dry away from combustible materials and heat. Keep the speakers until Cambridge Audio provides instructions and arrange the refund through the manufacturer. After the refund is confirmed, follow municipal guidance for the safe transport and disposal of recalled lithium-ion batteries; do not place the product in household garbage. Canadian law prohibits redistributing, selling or giving away the recalled product.

What owners should do

1. Switch off the Yoyo (M) and disconnect it from the power supply.
2. Do not use or charge it.
3. Store it in a cool, dry place away from combustible materials, radiators, direct sunlight and excessive heat.
4. Do not open the enclosure, remove the battery, or attempt a repair.
5. Do not put it in household waste or ordinary recycling.
6. Do not ship it using ordinary post or courier services.
7. Register through Cambridge Audio's safety-recall page for the country where the product is located and wait for authorised handling instructions.

Regional remedies differ. U.S. consumers are offered a $218 cash refund per boxed pair under CPSC recall 26-731. Canadian consumers should follow Health Canada and Cambridge Audio instructions for a refund, retention and safe disposal, and must not resell or give away the recalled product. Cambridge Audio's FAQ says it is not offering a remedy in Russia and directs Russian owners to their retailer or distributor. Unknown regional remedy details must not be treated as permission to resume use.
