Cambridge Audio Yoyo (M) Battery Safety Recall: Stop Using All Units

Cambridge Audio has issued a voluntary safety recall for every Yoyo (M) portable Bluetooth speaker after receiving reports of batteries overheating during charging, including fire and smoke. Owners should stop using and charging the product immediately.

Cambridge Audio's recall FAQ says every Yoyo (M) is included and there is no serial-number or purchase-date exemption. The UK safety notice identifies UK sales between 2016 and 2023. Do not generalize this recall to the Yoyo (S), Yoyo (L), or other Cambridge Audio products; the current notice names only Yoyo (M).

Cambridge Audio says it received reports of Yoyo (M) batteries overheating during charging and producing fire and/or smoke. U.S. CPSC recall 26-731 reports four incidents involving fire, smoke or ejected battery material, with no injuries reported as of the September 3, 2026 announcement.

The manufacturer says the matter has been notified to UK Trading Standards and the Office for Product Safety and Standards, and to EU Safety Gate and France's RappelConso. The U.S. notice covers approximately 714 boxed pairs. This record does not infer an incident or failure rate because the total worldwide affected-unit population remains unknown, and the U.S. count must not be extrapolated globally.

What owners should do

1. Switch off the Yoyo (M) and disconnect it from the power supply.
2. Do not use or charge it.
3. Store it away from combustible materials.
