Arylic S10+ and WiiM Mini are inexpensive ways to add network music to an amplifier, receiver or powered speakers. They look like direct rivals, but they solve different problems.

The short answer is simple: choose WiiM Mini for AirPlay 2, dual-band Wi-Fi, a more mature everyday software platform and high-resolution digital output. Choose Arylic S10+ when Ethernet, USB-drive playback, a computer USB-audio input or a physical remote matters more.

Neither is a universal winner. The correct choice depends on the connections and control method your system actually needs.

Prices are snapshots from the brands' US-facing pages and are not a total-cost comparison. Tax, shipping, plug type, seller, warranty and regional availability can change the decision.

The biggest hardware difference is USB and Ethernet

S10+ is the more flexible physical box. Its rear USB-A port is a host for a USB stick, while its USB-C port has two documented jobs: 5 V/1 A power and digital audio input from a computer. Arylic also includes wired Ethernet. These three features make S10+ easier to place in a fixed installation, use with local files, or connect to a computer without adding another DAC.

The two USB ports are not interchangeable. USB-A is for storage; it is not a digital output for an external DAC. USB-C is the computer-audio input and power connection. Arylic's current product page explicitly says an external DAC cannot be connected to the USB-A port.

WiiM Mini has no Ethernet or USB port. It relies on dual-band Wi-Fi, which can be an advantage in a congested home if the 5 GHz signal is strong, but a cable remains the more predictable option for a permanently installed system. If wired networking or USB storage is mandatory, Mini is eliminated before sound quality enters the discussion.

WiiM Mini has the stronger high-resolution output case

Arylic advertises decoding up to 24-bit/192 kHz for S10+, but its current specification table separately lists output at 16-bit/44.1 kHz. Those are not equivalent claims. A device can accept or decode a high-resolution file and still convert its output to a fixed rate.

WiiM lists output up to 24-bit/192 kHz and provides selectable digital-output resolution in its platform. That makes Mini the more logical budget transport for an external DAC when preserving supported sample rates is a real requirement.

This does not mean that a 192 kHz number guarantees audible superiority. Connection stability, level matching, the downstream DAC, amplifier, speakers, room and recording normally matter more than a headline sample-rate figure. It does mean the two products should not be described as having identical digital-output behavior.

AirPlay and app behavior may decide the purchase

WiiM Mini is explicitly an AirPlay 2 receiver and can join AirPlay 2 or Alexa multi-room groups. WiiM also documents Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, gapless playback and broad service access inside WiiM Home. It does not support Google Cast.

Arylic's current S10+ page lists AirPlay, Spotify Connect, DLNA, UPnP and QPlay. It does not clearly identify AirPlay 2, so Apple users should not infer AirPlay 2 grouping from the word “AirPlay.” The page also refers to both 4STREAM and GO CONTROL in different sections. Buyers should confirm which app and firmware apply to the exact unit they receive.

That documentation inconsistency is not proof of a product fault. It is a reason to verify the shipping version during the return period, especially if multi-room grouping or a particular service is essential.

Which one fits your system?

Buy Arylic S10+ if:

  • You need wired Ethernet.
  • You want to play a modest USB-stick library without a NAS.
  • A computer must feed the streamer through USB audio.
  • You want an included physical remote and front display.
  • CD-quality fixed output is acceptable for your use.

Buy WiiM Mini if:

  • AirPlay 2 is required.
  • You value dual-band Wi-Fi and a mature app workflow.
  • Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect or Alexa grouping is central to daily use.
  • You want up to 24-bit/192 kHz optical output into an external DAC.
  • You do not need Ethernet, USB storage or computer USB input.

What both products still require

Neither unit powers passive speakers. Connect its analogue output to an amplifier or powered speakers, or connect optical output to a DAC, receiver or compatible active speaker system.

Also check volume mode before first playback. Fixed output is appropriate when a downstream amplifier controls volume. Variable output can be useful when feeding powered speakers, but start low and verify that the receiving device has a safe gain structure.

Final verdict

WiiM Mini is the safer default for a phone-controlled streaming system, especially in an Apple, Alexa or high-resolution digital-output setup. Arylic S10+ is the more useful specialist when a small budget box must also provide Ethernet, USB storage, computer USB audio and a remote.

Choose the port and ecosystem requirements first. At this price, buying the wrong interface is a larger mistake than choosing the “wrong” DAC logo.
