Comparison guidance

Compare with WiiM Pro when Ethernet, Google Cast or broader system integration matters; compare with WiiM Pro Plus when the analogue output stage is the deciding factor.

Update — 4 September 2026: current official status

WiiM's April 2026 user manual and current product comparison confirm that WiiM Mini remains the entry-level Wi-Fi streamer in the range. The update does not change the recommendation above, but it replaces several broad assumptions with model-specific limits.

Confirmed hardware and connection limits

  • Dual-band Wi-Fi 5 is supported; there is no Ethernet port.
  • AirPlay 2, Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, DLNA, Alexa control and WiiM multi-room are supported. Google Cast and Roon Ready are not listed for Mini.
  • The 3.5 mm analogue input is converted at a fixed 48 kHz/16-bit rate.
  • Outputs are 3.5 mm analogue and optical S/PDIF. Optical output supports up to 24-bit/192 kHz.
  • There is no USB storage or USB audio port, no HDMI ARC and no dedicated wired subwoofer output.
  • The current official comparison identifies the DAC as TI PCM5121 and lists 69 × 69 × 24 mm dimensions with a 48 g weight.
  • The 2026 manual describes wireless subwoofer pairing only with compatible WiiM Sub models. Do not assume that an arbitrary wireless subwoofer can join the WiiM group.

Firmware status

WiiM's release-notes page was modified on 31 August 2026. The newest Mini firmware shown there is 4.6.819436, released in batches from 8 June 2026 and still marked “In Progress” by WiiM. It fixes occasional AirPlay dropouts and adds WiiM Radio when used with the latest app. Because rollout is staged, two Mini units may temporarily report different firmware versions.

Buying consequence

Mini remains the compact choice for AirPlay 2, Alexa multi-room and optical output into an existing DAC. Choose WiiM Pro instead when wired Ethernet, Google Cast or Roon Ready support is required, and compare WiiM Pro Plus when analogue-output performance is the priority.
