Roon Bridge 2.71 Made RoPieee Endpoints Disappear; RoPieee 2026.08.3 Fixes It

Roon Bridge 2.71 build 1683 moved the production application to .NET 10 on 31 August 2026. Soon after the rollout, multiple RoPieee users reported that previously working endpoints disappeared from Roon's available audio zones.

The RoPieee maintainer acknowledged the compatibility failure, first supplied an emergency repair script and then released RoPieee 2026.08.3 on 1 September. Multiple independent users reported that their endpoints returned after installing the formal release. SoundPath Lab therefore marks this narrowly scoped RoPieee incident resolved-verified.

Affected products and trigger

The failure should not be generalized to every Linux Roon Bridge endpoint. Volumio, DietPi and generic Linux dependency problems require separate evidence and may have different causes or fixes.

What users experienced

Affected endpoints no longer appeared as available audio zones after Roon Bridge updated. The reports describe previously working RoPieee systems rather than new installations or unrelated network-discovery setup problems.

This was a platform compatibility problem, not evidence that the attached DAC, HAT or Raspberry Pi hardware had failed.

Evidence level

The record is based on:

• the official Roon production announcement for Bridge 2.71 build 1683;
• matching reports from at least three distinct user accounts;
• acknowledgement and an emergency repair path from the RoPieee maintainer;
• the formal RoPieee 2026.08.3 release;
• multiple post-update confirmations that endpoints became available again.

The independent report count is recorded as 3+ because the public thread contains more than two matching accounts, but SoundPath Lab does not treat thread participation as an estimate of the total affected population.

Fix and workaround

Install RoPieee 2026.08.3 through the normal RoPieee update process. The maintainer states that the formal release also handles systems that were not repaired by the earlier emergency script.

After updating, allow the endpoint to restart and then check Roon's Settings → Audio page. If it is still missing, record the Raspberry Pi model, RoPieee version, audio HAT or USB DAC and network state before resetting or reinstalling anything.

The earlier emergency script is retained only as incident history; the supported path is the formal 2026.08.3 release.

Platform requirements

Roon's .NET 10 transition also changes the general requirements for Roon Bridge:

• macOS 12 or later;
• Linux with glibc 2.27 or later and OpenSSL 1.1.1 or later;
• Windows is unaffected by these new minimum-version requirements.

Meeting those requirements does not by itself prove compatibility with every appliance-style Linux distribution.
