Eversolo DMP-A6 Gen 2 Power Failure Investigation: No-Power Reports, Early Units and Warranty Gaps
Owners in several countries report DMP-A6 Gen 2 units losing power after months of use. We document the failure pattern, warranty risks and brand-response status.
The upgraded linear power supply was one of the headline changes in the Eversolo DMP-A6 Gen 2. Beginning in mid-2025, however, owners in France, English-language forums and the Eversolo community began reporting a similar failure pattern: a unit works normally for several months, shuts down, and then will not power on again. Some owners say a distributor or service center restored operation by replacing the power-supply module.
This is a material hardware-reliability warning. SoundPath Lab could not locate a public Eversolo service bulletin identifying affected serial numbers, a complete production-date range, a failure rate or a global remedy.
This article is public-source analysis, not a SoundPath Lab hands-on test. Its current labels are Caution advised / Public evidence / Not independently tested.

Why the DMP-A6 Gen 2 is the focus
We reviewed public problem reports involving the DMP-A6 family, DMP-A8, DMP-A10, Play, DAC-Z8 and AMP-F10. Eversolo also has a broader history of complaints involving its control app, music-library scanning and UPnP/SMB compatibility. Firmware release notes document repeated work in those areas. A player that becomes completely inoperable, however, is a more serious ownership risk than an app slowdown or artwork-sorting problem.
The DMP-A6 Gen 2 reports also extend beyond one website. Multiple members of the French Forum-Hifi community describe units becoming completely unresponsive after several months. A Needles & Grooves member reported a Master Edition Gen 2 that stopped powering on after four months. The Eversolo community created a pinned registration thread specifically for power-on problems involving early-production DMP-A6 Gen 2 units.
In one snapshot reviewed by SoundPath Lab, that pinned thread had 190 replies and 23,489 views. Those 190 replies must not be read as 190 failed devices: the thread contains questions, follow-ups, discussions and service updates. It demonstrates sustained attention but does not establish a failure rate.
The reported failure pattern
1. Normal operation for several months, followed by complete loss of power
In July 2025, a Forum-Hifi member reported that an A6 Gen 2 power supply appeared to fail after about four months. Another participant in the same discussion said the same thing had happened to his unit and that the dealer replaced the power supply; the player then continued to operate normally. Forum-Hifi: power failure and replacement discussion
In October 2025, another Forum-Hifi owner said his player switched off after six months and would not restart. It was sent for service with no apparent power. Forum-Hifi: shutdown and no-power report
A Needles & Grooves member described a similar timeline for a Master Edition Gen 2: after four months the unit was completely dead. The owner checked the power strip and cable and attempted a reset before contacting support. Needles & Grooves: Master Edition Gen 2 no-power report
The symptom and time-to-failure pattern are consistent across countries. No unified service report or circuit-level diagnosis has been published, so the common root cause still requires a manufacturer explanation.
2. Power-supply replacement restores operation, but a repeat failure was also reported
Several French users explicitly describe the service action as a power-supply replacement, with normal operation returning afterward. That makes the power-supply assembly a reasonable focus for investigation.
One Forum-Hifi member reported a more concerning sequence: the original power supply failed after one month, and the service replacement allegedly failed after only 15 days. Forum-Hifi: reported repeat failure after replacement
A replacement alone does not close the case. The revision of the replacement part, the service diagnosis, the operating environment and the possible involvement of other internal components have not been made public.
3. Loud standby noise followed by a dark screen
The Eversolo community also contains a report involving a Master Edition Gen 2 that made a loud thud while in standby and then became dark and unresponsive. Participants discussed possible external factors, including the power cable, but no public service conclusion was provided. We therefore record standby noise as a separate symptom rather than combining it automatically with the more common no-power sequence.
What Eversolo's public material confirms — and what it does not
Eversolo's product and launch material confirms that the DMP-A6 Gen 2 was introduced in early 2025 and promoted an upgraded low-noise linear power supply as a key generational change. Eversolo: DMP-A6 Gen 2 launch announcement
As of 23 August 2026, SoundPath Lab could not locate the following on Eversolo's public website:
- An affected serial-number range or verifiable production-date boundary;
- A public recall or global service bulletin;
- A disclosed failure rate, root-cause report or revised power-supply part number;
- A global extended-warranty commitment for this issue.
A Polish forum participant relayed claims that only February 2025 production was affected and that power-supply replacement would be free for two years. We could not locate an Eversolo document supporting either claim. Eversolo's English warranty page currently states a standard warranty period of one year from purchase, while shipping, labor and regional conditions may be handled by the local distributor. Eversolo: global warranty policy
Buyers should therefore obtain any batch determination or extended coverage in writing from their seller rather than relying on a forum relay.
Russian forum findings
We searched publicly accessible and indexed Russian audio discussions but did not find a Russian-language DMP-A6 Gen 2 power-failure cluster comparable to the French and English-language reports.
Stereo.ru does contain a long-term DMP-A8 ownership report describing an app that did not match the playback state shown on the player and repeatedly crashed, including after testing different phones and an update. That material supports a separate software-compatibility concern in Eversolo's shared platform; it does not document the Gen 2 power failure discussed here. Stereo.ru: DMP-A8 long-term ownership report
The absence of an indexed Russian cluster is not proof that no Russian owner has encountered the failure. It means the strongest verifiable public evidence currently comes from the Eversolo community, France and English-language forums.
Advice for current owners
- Do not open the chassis or attempt a power-supply replacement yourself. Eversolo's warranty terms say unauthorized disassembly can invalidate coverage, and an internal mains power supply presents a safety risk.
- If you notice smoke, a burning smell, a loud abnormal noise or excessive heat, disconnect mains power immediately. Do not repeatedly energize the unit; contact the dealer or Eversolo support.
- Keep the purchase receipt and record the exact model, serial number, purchase date, sales channel and failure date. A short video showing the power controls and lack of response can help establish the condition.
- Limit troubleshooting to safe external checks such as the wall outlet, original cable and rear master power switch. Do not remove the cover.
- Ask the service provider in writing whether the unit falls within a known early-production group, whether the remedy is a power-supply or whole-unit replacement, when the replacement warranty starts, and who pays return shipping.
- If the standard one-year warranty is close to expiring, open a dated service case immediately rather than waiting for a broader forum conclusion. Eversolo: support contact page
Advice for prospective buyers
- Ask the dealer to verify, in writing, whether the serial number or production information falls within any early-production range known to the distributor. No consumer-facing official serial-number table is currently available.
- Confirm the local warranty term, DOA/replacement window, shipping responsibility and expected service turnaround.
- Prefer an authorized channel with a clear local replacement and repair process. Include international return shipping in the real cost of a cross-border purchase.
- During the return window, test cold starts, standby wake-up, restart after mains disconnection and extended operation using the supplied parts.
- If the seller cannot define the service route and downtime would be unacceptable, delaying the purchase is a reasonable decision.
Verdict: caution advised pending a defined manufacturer remedy
The DMP-A6 Gen 2 no-power problem now has a sustained, cross-country public record. Similar timelines appear in multiple communities, the Eversolo forum has a dedicated early-production registration thread, and owners report that power-supply replacement restored some units. Eversolo should publish the affected range, diagnosis and service policy.
The most important boundaries remain missing: there is no public failure rate, no verifiable serial-number or production-date list, and no global service bulletin. Forum reply counts do not replace a device registry, and owners should not attempt a repair themselves.
The appropriate current buying label is Caution advised. A dealer that can document the unit's production status, warranty and replacement path makes the risk more manageable. Cross-border purchases, unclear service coverage and units nearing the one-year warranty boundary deserve substantially more caution.
Evidence and verification status
Public evidence: The Eversolo community carries a pinned early-production Gen 2 power-on thread; French and English-language forums contain multiple no-power reports; Eversolo's public warranty page states a standard one-year warranty.
Not independently tested: The electrical root cause of each failure, the exact components replaced, long-term reliability after repair and forum claims about production boundaries.
Still unknown: Failure rate as a share of sales, affected serial numbers and production dates, the hardware revision date, and whether undisclosed regional special-service policies exist.
Brand response, evidence and article-update process
As of 23 August 2026, SoundPath Lab has not received from Eversolo a formal response to this report, an affected-batch document, a technical diagnosis or a completed remedy.
Eversolo, an authorized distributor or a dealer may submit the following through SoundPath Lab's Contact page:
- Verifiable technical material showing that a reported issue does not exist, was misidentified or resulted from an external condition;
- Serial-number, production-date or hardware-revision boundaries for affected and unaffected units;
- A root-cause analysis, revised component number, repair program, recall or special-service policy;
- Post-repair validation data, a documented change in failure rate or a customer-remedy plan;
- A public statement identifying the responsible department, contact and publication date.
A manufacturer may correct facts and submit evidence but does not have editorial veto power. SoundPath Lab will verify the material and record the date of contact, evidence submission, remedy announcement and any change to the editorial conclusion.
If this section remains unchanged, it means that by the date shown above the brand has not supplied SoundPath Lab with a verifiable remedy or evidence that closes the issue. The purchasing risk may therefore remain, and caution is advised.
