Brand Intelligence Methodology: Company, Brand, Evidence and Change History

How SoundPath Lab separates Company, Brand and Product records, grades evidence, tracks lifecycle changes and controls publication risk.

Company Brand and Product architecture

SoundPath Lab treats a company, a brand and a product as separate entities. One company may operate several brands, and one brand may contain products built on different technical platforms. Each relationship carries a type, a date range, evidence and confidence rather than relying on a single parent-company text field.

Company Intelligence record

The company layer records legal entities, headquarters, founding history, ownership, brands, historical and current businesses, technology platforms, R&D areas, patents, software and hardware capability, manufacturing, OEM or solution-provider activity, management, dated employee evidence, hiring, funding, financial disclosures, distribution, partners and strategic changes.

Unknown fields remain unknown. A missing financial disclosure is not estimated from product launches, advertising activity or hiring.

Brand Dossier record

The brand layer records positioning, origins, ownership, history, product evolution, current portfolio, product strategy, software and hardware capability, manufacturing evidence, strengths, recurring weaknesses, firmware track record, product lifecycle, successor strategy, discontinued-product support, known issues, brand responses, owner remedies, customer support, current direction, business signals, risks, evidence coverage, open questions and last verification date.

Every section separates four kinds of statement:

  • Verified fact: supported directly by an identified source.
  • Observed pattern: a repeatable pattern in dated evidence.
  • SoundPath Lab analysis: an interpretation derived from the evidence.
  • Open question: a material issue that remains unknown or insufficiently supported.

Evidence levels

Level Evidence Normal use
A Regulatory record, audited statement, or official legal or financial filing Legal entity, certification and audited financial facts
B Company document, patent, certification, manual, release log or on-record executive interview Product history and official actions; company claims remain labelled
C Reliable independent reporting or original testing Independent verification and market context
D Multiple corroborated industry sources Non-sensitive industry patterns when primary records are unavailable
E Single industry lead, forum post or employee anecdote Research lead only, not a strong public conclusion

Sensitive claims about ownership, finances, management, staff turnover, family control, R&D spending, marketing spending or commercial integrity require elevated evidence and a reputation-risk review.

Change History and Strategy Timeline

Brand Change History is append-only. It stores the date, event, category, evidence, impact, affected products and current status. Earlier events are not deleted simply because the canonical profile changes.

The Brand Strategy Timeline is separate. It groups major periods such as platform development, category expansion or international distribution. These stages are editorial analysis and are always labelled as such.

Lifecycle and Owner Responsibility

Brand assessment does not stop at launch-day specifications. SoundPath Lab tracks product maturity, bug frequency, time to acknowledgement, time to an effective fix, firmware lifespan, discontinued-product support, successor transitions, repair, replacement, refund, recall and transparency.

Positive evidence matters as much as failure evidence. Continuing to maintain an older product, migrating useful features across generations, offering a repair or recall, and communicating clearly are all recorded.

No automated Brand Score will be shown until evidence is adequate across product delivery, longevity, update continuity, issue resolution, owner remedy, successor transition, transparency and evidence coverage. Until then, the correct result is Not enough evidence.

Publication controls

Before publication, every Brand Intelligence page receives a fact check, source check, conflict check, evidence-label check, date check and reputation-risk review. Commercial relationships and product sourcing are disclosed. Unsupported conclusions are removed, downgraded or marked unknown.

Company, Brand and Product pages link in both directions. Brand Dossiers also connect to comparisons, decision guides, firmware, issues, lifecycle records, owner evidence, brand responses and reassessments. Deep dives link back to the canonical company and brand records.
