Avid lists the S3 control surface as reaching its end of support on December 31, 2026. Avid defines that date as the point when all forms of service and technical support for the product cease. The S3's final sale date was December 31, 2021.

This is a lifecycle and support change, not a recall and not a claim that every S3 will stop operating on January 1, 2027. Existing hardware may continue to work in a compatible system. The confirmed risk is that manufacturer service and technical support will no longer be available after the stated date.

What this means for owners

Owners using an S3 in a production workflow should document and preserve a known-good configuration before the support deadline. That includes the workstation operating system, EUCON and application versions, network configuration, installers and any required authorization information that can lawfully be retained.

Future operating-system, workstation, network or application changes may create compatibility problems that Avid is no longer committed to resolve for this product after the end-of-support date. SoundPath Lab has not independently tested every post-deadline software combination, and Avid's lifecycle matrix does not say that the S3 will be remotely disabled.

If the S3 is business-critical, owners should also clarify repair and spare-part options with Avid or an authorized service provider before December 31, 2026. What this means for buyers

A used S3 may still be useful when its required workflow and software environment are already known. Buyers should not, however, price it as though normal manufacturer support will continue.
