Sony NW-WM1AM3 — Evidence Profile
L2 documentation-based Decision Profile · checked 22 October 2026 · not an SPL test.
Decision first
Choose this model for its documented larger display and intermediate internal capacity only when those features solve a real portable-use need. An audible upgrade over working equipment remains unverified.
Official evidence and operating conditions
Sony US specifies 128 GB nominal storage, approximately 91 GB available, a 5.5-inch Full HD display and approximately 15 oz. The manufacturer describes the aluminium body with an oxygen-free copper rear panel; material choice is not an SPL listening result.
The US high-gain rating is 60 + 60 mW from the stereo mini-jack and 250 + 250 mW from the balanced jack, each under the stated JEITA 16Ω condition. These are manufacturer ratings, not matched distortion measurements or a guarantee with your headphones.
The US specification lists Android 16, USB-C USB 3.2 Gen 1, USB DAC mode and microSD-family expansion. Bluetooth 5.4 is listed for transmission; reception codecs are explicitly listed as none. Do not buy it as a Bluetooth receiver.
Battery claims have different workloads: approximately 33 hours for 96 kHz/24-bit FLAC in W.MUSIC, 35 hours for 128 kbps MP3 in W.MUSIC, and 31 hours for offline MP3 in another app. They are not interchangeable streaming-runtime figures.
Use the correct headphone connection for the desired playback path. Sony states that native DSD requires the balanced connection; the unbalanced path uses PCM. USB DAC input is not proof that every USB output/DAC pairing works. Start at a low volume and verify the exact regional high-gain option before relying on a US power figure.
Who it fits — and who should wait
Fits: Local-library and Wi-Fi app users who specifically need 128 GB nominal internal storage and a 5.5-inch display.
Wait or keep your system: Buyers expecting demonstrated sonic superiority, a guaranteed long Android support period, Bluetooth reception, or compatibility with every streaming app and external DAC.
Alternatives and upgrade decision
Compare the other two Sony models for the storage, display and carried size you need. Keep your current player or phone/DAC if it already runs the required apps and headphones reliably; price and case material alone do not establish an audible upgrade.

Software, support and regional limits
Sony US support showed no downloadable device update and listed warranty/repair material in Manuals & Warranty. No current firmware or complete owner manual was accepted. A generic old support article is not a model-specific operating instruction.
The dated US store listing was USD 2,999.99. These are attributed source prices, not verified sales offers or a global shipping claim. The store was offering pre-order; local delivery requires confirmation.
What we reviewed; what we did not test
Documentation and editorial system-fit review only. SPL has not installed, listened to, measured or reliability-tested this unit. No verified repair, score or recommendation certification is added.
Acceptance is based on the exact-model sources below and an editorial assessment of system roles. L2 is documentation completeness for a qualified decision, not a listening endorsement. The complete owner manual remains unaccepted.
- Exact-model owner/Help Guide not obtained: the US entry displayed warranty/repair material, not an accepted operating manual.
- Regional volume/gain limits, sensitive-IEM hiss and actual headphone headroom remain untested.
- Installed firmware, app/service compatibility, USB output pairings and sustained streaming battery life remain unverified.
- Regional stock, delivery, repair terms, battery service and a guaranteed support end date remain unverified.
