Sonus faber Olympica III G3

Official-source product profile · L1

Sonus faber Olympica III G3

Third-generation Olympica III floorstander identified in the current G3 owner manual. The manual and technical page support the specifications; legacy Nova/35 Hz website copy remains a documented conflict.

Evidence checked / updated: 2026-10-11. Manufacturer claims; no independent SoundPath Lab test.

Verified documentation

  • Current manufacturer-linked G3 manual identifies Olympica III G3 on printed page 51; it is distinct from Olympica Nova III and the original Olympica III.
  • Three-way vented design with a sealed cork midrange enclosure; 28 mm DAD silk tweeter, 165 mm Camelia paper/copper-cap midrange and two 165 mm paper woofers.
  • Manufacturer manual: 42 Hz–40 kHz at −3 dB; 90 dB sensitivity at 2.83 V, with the technical page specifying 1 m; nominal 4 Ω. This voltage reference is about 2 W at 4 Ω, not 1 W.
  • Crossovers 365/2460 Hz; manufacturer recommended amplifier 50–300 W with an undistorted signal. This is not a measured impedance minimum or a speaker continuous-power rating.
  • Four binding posts for low and mid/high sections; standard single wiring uses supplied bridges. Follow the manual when removing bridges for bi-wiring or bi-amping.
  • 376 × 1104 × 459 mm (W×H×D), 35 kg each. Manual states two-year standard warranty; local terms and registration extension require checking.
  • Current technical page and G3 manual agree on 42 Hz; the overview still contains Nova naming and a 35 Hz marketing sentence. No global announcement date, current regional price, stock or fulfilled shipment is inferred.

Best for

A passive stereo system with a suitable 4 Ω-capable amplifier, space for floorstanders and room-specific placement assessment.

Avoid if

You need an active streamer, compact desktop speaker or an independently measured guarantee of bass extension and amplifier load.

Limits and unknowns

Website legacy naming and 35 Hz sentence remain in the evidence history; G3 model-specific manual establishes identity and 42 Hz (−3 dB). No SPL acoustic, impedance or listening test. Announcement, regional pricing, stock, support horizon and any claimed advantage over Nova III remain unverified. Keep an existing system that meets your needs.

System and support checks

Confirm exact regional hardware, required external components, the current manual, local warranty and actual dispatch. Unknown features are not marked unsupported. Existing equipment that already fits the required connections remains a valid choice; no measured upgrade or automatic purchase recommendation is assigned.
