Shanling CT90

L2 Decision Profile: official documentation and editorial system fit. Manufacturer documentation and editorial system-fit reasoning only; no SPL installation, listening, measurement, reliability test or verified repair.

Current verdict

A top-loading CD/digital transport for an external DAC, with distinct USB computer input and USB audio output paths and a restrictive Pure CD mode.

Best for

A CD owner whose external DAC accepts a documented digital output and who needs the CT90’s particular transport/control paths.

Avoid if

An all-in-one analogue CD player or a Wi-Fi network streamer is required.

Strengths

Coaxial, dual AES/EBU, IIS-LVDS and USB audio output options cover different external-DAC roles.

What remains untested

SPL has not checked disc compatibility, clocking, IIS pin matching, USB DAC compatibility or playback reliability; a higher sample-rate ceiling is not proof of audible benefit.

System and connection conditions

Match the DAC input and select the correct output. IIS-LVDS pin modes must match the DAC and are not TV HDMI audio. USB IN accepts a computer; USB AUDIO sends audio to a compatible DAC. Pure CD mode disables remote/app communication, SRC, USB/Bluetooth modes and system-menu access.

Alternatives and keeping your equipment

Compare ET3 EVO for its documented transport paths or CD50 where a different integrated playback role fits. Keep the existing transport if the present DAC connection already works.

Documented specifications and limits

Source and outputsTop-loading CD, USB storage, Bluetooth input and computer USB IN; coaxial, dual AES/EBU, IIS-LVDS and USB audio outputs.
Mode limitPure CD mode disables remote/app control, SRC and USB/Bluetooth modes; spin the wheel to exit.
Processing/networkManufacturer says SRC is unavailable on USB output and no Wi-Fi is provided.
Clock conditionMatch the external clock/cable impedance to the 50Ω or 75Ω menu setting.
Power/spaceCheck the actual regional mains label; the manual requires clear ventilation and grounded supply.

Firmware and support

Official download page claims CD fast-forward and language-file fixes; publication date and installed outcome unverified.

Regional stock, warranty handling, parts and support horizon remain unverified. This record adds no score, verified repair or automatic recommendation.

Unknowns and reassessment

  • Independent disc, clock and output results
  • Universal IIS/USB interoperability
  • Current delivery, regional voltage and repair support
