Product dossier · Network streamer / digital transport

FiiO SR11

A compact network transport for an existing DAC. It offers Roon Ready, first-generation AirPlay and four digital-output choices, but no analogue output.

Current verdict

SR11 is a strong low-cost transport candidate when a compatible DAC is already in the system. It is not a complete analogue-output streamer, and experimental DLNA prevents a blanket stability conclusion.

Who should buy it?

  • Owners of USB, coaxial or optical DACs
  • Roon Ready systems needing a compact network bridge
  • Apple-device playback where first-generation AirPlay is sufficient
  • Systems that benefit from a screen, front knob and infrared remote

Who should skip it?

  • Systems without a DAC or digital-input amplifier
  • AirPlay 2 multiroom or Google Cast households
  • Buyers requiring native Spotify, TIDAL or Qobuz Connect
  • Users who need analogue, HDMI, headphone, phono or subwoofer connections

What it replaces

A basic network bridge or computer used only to feed an existing USB, coaxial or optical DAC.

What it does not replace

A DAC, analogue preamplifier, headphone amplifier, HDMI hub, service-connect streamer or AirPlay 2 multiroom endpoint.

Positive evidence

  • Official Roon Ready support.
  • USB-A, USB-C, coaxial and optical digital outputs.
  • Gigabit Ethernet plus dual-band 2.4/5 GHz Wi-Fi.
  • USB output up to PCM 32-bit/768 kHz and DSD256 DoP, subject to the downstream DAC.
  • FiiO publishes model-specific parameters, FAQ, firmware notes and downgrade guidance.
  • V630 adds local playback, Bluetooth reception, OTA checking and experimental DLNA.

Limitations / negative evidence

  • No DAC or analogue output; complete-system cost includes an external decoder and cable.
  • AirPlay is not documented as AirPlay 2.
  • FiiO's parameter table states AirPlay audio is converted to 16-bit/44.1 kHz before output.
  • No official Google Cast or native Spotify, TIDAL or Qobuz Connect claim.
  • FiiO labels DLNA experimental and warns of possible long-playback app compatibility problems.
  • Local-library features depend on V630, FiiO Control and Wi-Fi.

Conditional or unknown

Maximum rates depend on the selected output and downstream DAC. DLNA remains experimental. SoundPath Lab has not yet verified onboarding, recovery, digital handshakes, bit-perfect behavior or long sessions.

What SoundPath Lab tested

No hands-on test is attached. Product identity, specifications, support documentation and V630 firmware claims were checked against FiiO's official pages.

What remains untested

Onboarding, cold start, Roon and AirPlay recovery, USB/coaxial/optical handshake, negotiated sample rates, bit-perfect behavior, DLNA long sessions, local-library indexing and long-term reliability.

Existing-owner advice

Keep a working streamer unless SR11's Roon Ready status, extra digital-output choices or compact local controls solve a specific problem. A lower price alone is not an upgrade reason.
