Polk Audio Brand Profile

Brand evidence profile · Foundation v1.0

Matthew Polk, Sandy Gross and George Klopfer founded Polk Audio in Baltimore in 1972. HARMAN completed its acquisition of Sound United on 23 September 2025; the official announcement lists Polk Audio among the acquired brands, and HARMAN is a wholly owned Samsung subsidiary.

Product families and platform boundaries

SoundPath Lab currently tracks three L0 passive-speaker records: Reserve R200, Reserve R700 and Signature Elite ES20. Polk's wider range includes Monitor XT, Signature Elite and Reserve speakers, plus soundbars, subwoofers and installation products. Passive speakers do not inherit app, firmware or cloud dependencies from soundbars or wireless products.

Support and lifecycle

Polk provides product registration, manuals, a product archive, warranty, service-center, live-chat, email and phone routes. Shared ownership with other HARMAN brands does not make support systems interchangeable. All three tracked lifecycle states remain Unknown.

Evidence status

The 1972 Baltimore origin, current HARMAN ownership, main product families and official support structure are verified. Model lifecycle, post-warranty parts duration and ownership-transition service outcomes remain Unknown. No SoundPath Lab brand-level hands-on conclusion is claimed.

Manufacturer response: Not contacted. This does not mean the brand declined to respond.
