Hegel Brand Profile
Brand evidence profile · Foundation v1.0
Hegel is operated by Hegel Music System AS in Oslo, Norway. Founder Bent Holter began the underlying amplifier research at NTNU in 1988; Hegel moved into commercial hi-fi production in 1998, and the current company chapter followed his reacquisition of the assets and SoundEngine patent.
Product families and platform boundaries
SoundPath Lab currently tracks two Hegel products: the analogue A200 integrated amplifier and the network-capable H200 integrated amplifier. Both are Tier A products in the internal portfolio. SoundEngine is an amplifier-stage technology, not a streaming platform. App, network and firmware dependencies therefore apply only to connected models and must be checked by model and generation.
Support and lifecycle
Hegel provides product support pages, manuals, firmware guidance, an app and regional dealer/distributor routes. Update delivery differs by product: newer connected amplifiers may update through a device menu or automatically, while some models use a product webpage or downloaded file. Both tracked products are currently recorded as Active, but the public material does not guarantee one support or repair period for every model and region.
Evidence status
Company history, product-family scope, SoundEngine boundaries and model-specific firmware routes are verified from Hegel sources. Long-term support horizons, region-specific repair duration and owner-remedy evidence remain Unknown. No SoundPath Lab brand-level hands-on conclusion is claimed.
Manufacturer response: Not contacted. This does not mean the brand declined to respond.
