# FiiO EA13 First Batch Sold Out: Should You Wait for the Second Batch?

FiiO says the first production batch of its EA13 tube amplifier has sold out and that a second batch will take longer to supply. That is a real availability signal. It is not, by itself, evidence of how many units were made, how many people ordered one, or how the amplifier performs in a particular room. **The sell-out is real. The useful question is not whether the EA13 is popular enough to chase. It is whether its analog-only system role, speaker match, tube ownership demands, and still-unverified behaviour fit *your* system. ## What actually happened?

**Confirmed.** FiiO [announced the EA13's release on 28 August](https://fiio.com/newsinfo/1144279.html?ref=soundpathlab.com). On 29 August, the company said the first production batch was sold out. It attributed the delay in replenishment to the production, assembly, testing and quality-control cycle for a tube amplifier. It also said limited stock might remain with some online sellers or regional dealers, while it worked on the next batch. Availability can therefore differ by region and seller.

**Unknown.** FiiO did not disclose the first-batch quantity, worldwide order total, regional allocation, backorder volume, cancellations or a firm second-batch delivery date in that statement. A small first run and a large first run can both sell out. Neither interpretation should be presented as fact without a denominator.

**SoundPath Lab view.** Treat this as a reason to watch the EA13, not a reason to waive normal system checks. If you see a remaining unit, verify that it is an authorised, correctly specified regional unit at a normal local price, with clear warranty and return terms. We have not independently verified current dealer stock or a global price.

## Why is EA13 drawing attention?

The product is distinctive within FiiO's own range: its [official page](https://www.fiio.com/ea13?ref=soundpathlab.com) describes a full-size, all-tube amplifier using two PCF80 small-signal tubes and four EL34 output tubes, a Class A push-pull circuit, physical controls and VU meters. Its size and 17.7 kg listed weight make it a different proposition from a small desktop DAC/amp. Four RCA line-input pairs let a buyer connect several analog sources. There are plausible demand drivers: an accessible entry into a full-size tube system, the visual appeal of the hardware, FiiO's existing personal-audio audience, and the opportunity to join a modern digital front end to traditional two-channel amplification. **These are hypotheses, not verified explanations for the sell-out.** Neither the first-batch size nor buyer motivations have been disclosed.

## Sold out does not automatically mean buy now

### Match the speakers, not just the wattage headline

FiiO specifies at least **18 W + 18 W at under 1% THD+N** and at least **28 W + 28 W at under 5% THD+N**, for its stated 4Ω and 8Ω output conditions. Those are *manufacturer specifications*, not SoundPath Lab measurements. The 28 W figure without its distortion condition is incomplete. Speaker sensitivity, impedance behaviour, room size, listening distance and desired peak level matter. The existence of a 4Ω tap does not guarantee that every difficult 4Ω speaker will be an easy match. Confirm the speaker maker's load guidance and ask for a home trial or an appropriate demonstration when the match is uncertain. We have not measured EA13 output, clipping or speaker-load behaviour.

### Account for tube-amplifier ownership

Plan for ventilation, heat, safe placement away from children or pets, tube replacement and the possibility of future servicing. FiiO's page identifies the fitted tube types, but that does not establish tube life, replacement policy, repair availability or long-term reliability. Actual power consumption and thermal behaviour remain unverified here. Do not assume a low-heat, leave-on-all-day experience merely because the amplifier has an automatic standby feature. ### Add a digital source if you need streaming

EA13 is an analog-input amplifier. FiiO lists **four RCA line inputs**, not an onboard streaming service, network input or digital DAC input. A streaming system therefore needs a streamer/DAC with analog line output. A turntable needs a suitable line-level/phono path; do not connect a raw cartridge signal to an ordinary line input. ## How EA13 fits into a modern streaming system

The signal path is simple: **streamer/DAC analog line out → EA13 RCA line in → passive speakers on the appropriate speaker terminals**. Turn both devices off before making connections, check the speaker manufacturer's impedance guidance, and begin at a low volume. The two pairings below are based on documented interfaces and settings, **not a SoundPath Lab hands-on compatibility test**.

### WiiM Ultra + EA13

Connect the [WiiM Ultra's analog RCA Line Out](https://www.wiimhome.com/langPdf/en/WiiM%20Ultra%20UM.pdf?ref=soundpathlab.com) to one EA13 RCA line input. WiiM Ultra supplies the streaming app, digital-to-analog conversion and available DSP; EA13 handles analog volume and speaker amplification. For one clear master volume, set up the WiiM output level carefully, bring the EA13 volume down first, then use WiiM's documented **Fixed Volume Output** option and control everyday listening level at the EA13\. The WiiM help centre documents that option; it does **not** prove that every DSP mode or current firmware combination has been tested with EA13\. If you prefer variable WiiM volume, deliberately define the safe maximum and avoid treating both controls as unrestricted masters. WiiM's HDMI ARC, network and DSP features remain functions of the *source*, not new EA13 inputs. Confirm the exact output/DSP route in your WiiM firmware before relying on a particular correction setting. ### FiiO S15 + EA13

FiiO itself depicts an [S15 + EA13 system](https://www.fiio.com/ea13?ref=soundpathlab.com). Connect the S15's analog RCA line output to an EA13 RCA line input. FiiO's [S15 audio-setting instructions](https://fiio.com/newsinfo/991457.html?ref=soundpathlab.com) distinguish **Line Output**, a fixed level unaffected by S15 volume, from **Adjustable volume at PRE-OUT TERMINALS**. The simplest operating model is fixed S15 line output and EA13 as master volume, again starting low. Do not assume the S15 is in fixed mode merely because a cable is in the line-output sockets. FiiO also says enabling S15 I2S output disconnects its analog output path, a useful troubleshooting check if the EA13 is silent.

Other FiiO sources may be useful only when they provide a documented **analog line-level** output. A digital-only transport cannot feed an EA13 RCA input directly; it needs a DAC in between. FiiO's TT13 turntable may be a separate analog source, but phono/line mode and gain should be verified before describing a particular hookup as tested. No extra pairing is recommended simply to create an internal link.

## Who should buy now, and who should wait?

**Buy remaining stock now** only if you have checked your passive-speaker match, have a suitable analog source, accept tube ownership, and can confirm normal local pricing and a clear authorised warranty. Scarcity should not replace those checks.

**Wait for batch two** if you are new to tube amplifiers, do not need a system immediately, or want supply to normalise while first-batch owners accumulate experience. FiiO has acknowledged a longer replenishment cycle but has not provided a firm date in the cited statement.

**Wait for more evidence** if your decision depends on low noise/hum, transformer noise, heat, power consumption, difficult-load performance, headphone output quality, tube consistency, measured output, or repair support. We have not tested an EA13 unit, measured it or assembled an owner cohort. Those unknowns matter more than a sell-out notice for some buyers.

## What EA13 says about FiiO's direction

The observed portfolio now stretches beyond FiiO's established portable players, earphones and DAC/amps: its own site lists the [S15 streamer](https://www.fiio.com/s15?ref=soundpathlab.com), [TT13 turntable](https://www.fiio.com/tt13?ref=soundpathlab.com), active speakers and the EA13 tube amplifier. FiiO also explicitly illustrates S15 and EA13 in one home system. These are product facts, not proof that every part of the ecosystem has equal software, support or engineering maturity. **SoundPath Lab interpretation:** EA13 looks like category expansion into conventional home two-channel audio, rather than merely another portable-audio iteration. Its first-batch sell-out suggests interest in that direction, but cannot establish a durable strategic success without production scale, sustained owner experience, support continuity and successor history. This interpretation rests on the linked public product portfolio.

## What we still need to verify

First-batch quantity; a dated batch-two ETA and regional allocation; real-world hum and transformer noise; ventilation and thermal behaviour; actual power draw; 4Ω/8Ω speaker-load behaviour; headphone output performance; tube consistency and replacement policy; long-term stability; measured output, THD+N and SNR; authorised repair and owner remedy. Manufacturer numbers remain manufacturer numbers until independently measured. A claimed firmware or hardware fix, if one emerges, would be **fix released**, not **fix verified**, until retested.

**Verdict:** Sold out makes EA13 worth watching, not automatically worth buying. **Scarcity is not evidence of system fit.**
